A Word About Stewardship

Our vlog begins with the notion of“Stewardship” and your first assignment is to read this brief article, to check out the websites and then to write something thoughtful about stewardship yourself. Your comments should be at least three sentences. Please post as anonymous and include in your comment your first initial and last name. Your three sentences need to answer this question,"What qualities in the life of Jesus provide a model for living and an example of good stewardship?” . Remember, the world is our audience, so please be thoughtful and considerate.

Here are my thoughts: “Stewardship is rooted deeply in Judaic, Christian and Muslim religious tradition. Stewardship is defined as,

“Main Entry: stew·ard·ship Function: noun
1 : the office, duties, and obligations of a steward
2 : the conducting, supervising, or managing of something; especially : the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care <stewardship of our natural resources>” http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/stewardship

Wikipedia has a short entry on “Stewardship” that I am sure, you will be able to add some valuable input to. Stwardship for Christians had as its basis the ten commandments and blossoms in the eight Beatitudes and Jesus’ Commandment that we love one another as we love ourselves. The other could be the neighbor next door, the neighbor lying in the street” (Remember the Good Samaritan Parable) or the least one. (Remember Lazarus sitting outside waiting for the scraps of food from the table, while the rich mans revels in abundance)

Our neighbor could also be our furry and plant neighbors, those we share our niche of our Earth with. We can practice stewardship by living simply and sharing what we have. Our study in this vlog is concerned with Stewardship, the Ten Commandments and Poverty. One example I can think of right away with “Stewardship and the Ten Commandments” is the third commandment that tells us to “Remember to Keep Holy the Lord’s Day”. This commandment asks us to be in right relationship with God, to spend some time, weekly, with God. It’s our way of stewarding our time and resources so we can spend some of it with God and our soul. I chose this example because it’s not the run of the mill example you would find.

Many times, when people hear the word, “Stewardship” the think of giving money to the church, organizations, etc. This is a valid way to hekp out by Biblical stewardship goes way beyond that. “Biblically, stewardship is about relationship with God, God's people, and God's creation," writes Dan V Dick. "The church, as we know it, exists to help us grow in these relationships. Giving is not about the need of the institution to receive but about the needs of Christian disciples to give as they grow and grow as they give.”

Here’s some information about Catholic Stewardship online:

The International Catholic Stewardship Council continues to lay out the tools that can further strengthen the stewardship of all Catholics around the world. Through the solidarity of the ICSC family, we will continue to put Christ’s stewardship message into action.

Stewardship says that it is caring for God and entrusting yourself to him. Instead of going to church only on holidays try an attend church every Sunday. This way God knows that you care about sharing your life with him. As God's Son, Jesus, He explained through his teachings that you should keep holy the Sabbath Day. The Third Commmandment reminds us of this. In Jesus teachings he said that you shouldn't be a Catholic just for the gimmicks, be a Catholic because you have faith and believe in God and his teachings. Show stewardship and do community service, go to mass, show kindness to others. Not only should you steward your time to God throuh attending mass and doing his work, you can show stewardship to yourself. If you want a good quality life then one way is to follow in God's footsteps ad live by his law. This way you are guaranteeed a good quality life and you have just granted timely stewardship to yourself.

Jesus shared almost everything he had. He even shared his life for us so that our sins would be forgiven. Stewardship is about caring for others and to share what you already have, not just material, also emotionally, and mentally.

Stewardship is more or less taking care of something that's entrusted in your care. You might think, why do I have to take care of strangers that I don't even know when they're not entrusted in my care? Jesus called us brothers and sisters, so when you think about it, don't we all kind of belong to eachother? All of us have a specific obligation to take care of one another and help each other to follow Christ.
Jesus had qualities that provided a model of stewardship like his unconditional love for every human being. Theres another thing that needs to be remembered about Jesus. He was human like us in all ways except for sin. If Jesus can take care of others the way he did, then we could, too.

The qualities in life that Jesus provides to show stewardship are the ten commandments and the beatitudes that we love each other and we love ourselves. We can live with stewardship by living and sharing what we have with others who dont have as much as we do. Celebratiesfor example they have so much money and most of them dont share what money they do have i mean some peeople do, like Oprah Winfrey. She has somuch money and she has a network called the Angel Network and it helps people in Africa with poverty. People that that stewardship is giving money to the church or something like that but its really the relashionship you have with God.

The qualities that Jesus used in life to show good stewartship and a model for life and living were the eight beatitudes and the ten commandments. They show us to treat each others with respect and, that we all can live togeher. An example of this in the world today wopuld be Bono from U2. Bono goes to different countries around the wold such as Africa and the Middle east to help poverty strucken people. He gives a great deal of money to schools and coummunities and villages but more importantly he gives his time and energy. he sits down with villagers and the people and listens to their problems and tries to help them the best of his ability. Bono is definetly one of the main people you think of when you think of "stewardship". Him along with numerous people such as Oprah.

The quality that should be focused on id Stewardship. Mainly caring for the environment. Our world is live a pyramid with the environment as the base, people in the middle, and laws and church on top. All the people in the church and government want more that anything to help the people. (Give money, build houses, etc.) But when a pyramid is made heavier at the top and not the bottem, it topples over. If we keep building houses for people-there goes the rainforests and all ecosystems. The environment is what we live on and if that isn't taken care of, then the rest of the pyramid will crumble. Our base for the pyramid and lives is the Earth and it isn't in the best of shape so, services to the Earth should be made with urgency. The people will have no where to live if there is no place for them. Stewardship should go to the environment.

Stewardship mean to me is to know that all the people are children from God and we all have to help each other. So if their are poor people, i have to help them by praying them, offer them and encourage them by writing letters, because we are all brothers and sisters. Under the God's word we should love each other and share our possesions with people who are poor and we should do this not by justgiving them money but love. And also i think another meaning of stewardship is in catholic church is that receiving God's gift. You got your faith and Love from God.
Jesus showed his stewardship by curing other people and share God's words with people who does not willing to have relationship with God. And also he was crucified to tell people that God gave them a life.

In Biblical times, stewardship dealt with the people's relationship with God and strengthening that relationship. This meant that they were to respect and care for the people around them and the world they lived in. Jesus traveled around the land teaching people these lessons. He spoke of God and ways to come close to God. He preached practices such as love your neighbor as you love yourself. He also spoke of the importance of Baptism, because it is in Baptism that our lives of Stewardship begin.

Some quatities that Jesus possessed as a model for living and an example of stewardship are the unconditional love that he showedfor all of mankind. He was willing to sacrifice his life for us so that we could enter God's Kingdom and live forever with God. Also, Jesus was understanding of people and forgave their sins, even when it was hard to forgive them. Jesus thought of others before himself and put himself out to try to solve other people's problems. He performed miracles that benifited other people when they were in major needof care and love. Jesus's works and teachings are key for us to be ableto understand what stewardship is all about.

Stewrardship is being in charge of or taking care of something. Jesus was sent to the earth to take care of us and the earth. jesus took his responsibilities to share with us a loving relationship with God. He asks us to stand before the lord with a spiritual accountabiliy. this means that we have to , as the christian community, have to go and figure out how to live out a life of stewardship. this proccess begins in remembering our baptism. this shows the beginning of our lives as aperson living in the footsteps of Jesus. we commit ourselves for a lifetime. at this moment we deticate ourselves to a life of caring and loving service. -k. jordan

In "A Word About Stewardship" Jusus talks about how it is the right thing to help others in need even if you don't want to. Jesus said in the third commandment "Remember to keep Holy the Lord's Day." Jesus does not ask much of us and the least we can do is attend Church sometime during the week and say a small prayer when you wake up or before you go to bed. Jesus respects our needs and wishes and if we follow his footsteps then he will help lead us onto the right path in life. Jesus prooves that everyone is created equal no matter how much money or family you have then your neighbor standing next to you. K. Maloney

I think some things in God's life that would be concidered as a model of stewardship would be all he does for everybody everyday. He listens to our prayers. Even if all we recieve from our prayers are little signs that they would be answered, he still takes the time to listen and help us through our prayers. God is always there for everybody no matter what, and that is how i think God shows stewardship.

The qualities Jesus showed us on how to live life and to be a good steward is that he was always nice to everyone, no matter what they did to him he would still be nice to them and in turn they would probably be let into heaven. An example of this is when Jesus turned the water into wine. Nobody had asked him to do it, but he still did it out of the kindness of his heart, and because he loved everyone. He shows us to be nice to everyone no matter what they have done to you or anyone else, or to treat others the way you would like to be treated

Stewardship is being able to be kind without realistic things. Jesus is kind to people he doesnt give material things to help people. He uses his gifts from the heart. Jesus invites people to eat with him and is kind to them. This shows stewardship because his being thoughtful. Giving his love to people also shows stewardship.

Some qualities Jesus possesed is a caring individual. He showed everyone that no matter what you do, Jesus is always behind you and "backing you up." Jesus is the one who really cares for you no matter what. He also posesses faith. If you have faith in Jesus, you will be able to do anything. Jesus is always sticking up for you, and forgiving you. Now it is time for us to return the favor and be kind, loving, and forgiving to Jesus. He treats us with respect. Also another one is, not abusing Jesus' power, when we get angry. Jesus gave us a ton of free will so when we abuse the power of doing anything, and having Jesus forgive us, if we are to abuse this by doing whatever we want, we are abusing it.

stewertship is simpliy being a human being with morals that jesus would approve and wants us to have. jesus knows that to be a human we make mistakes,he says its ok to make mistakes but to learn from them is the most improtant part. with out mistakes in our lives we would not know what is right peoples mistakes can also teach other people to not make there mistakes. being a caring well rounded person helps in the model of jesus. every human being has different gifts and quitietly that jesus has gave us. he wants us to reach out to our brothers and sisters that are realated and not realated and help them if they are in need of care and help. remember jesus is our father and our teacher. he can only lead us to the right path and its up to us to wheter to take his advice and go down the wrong path. with his wisdom we can change the way the world works.

Qualities that Jesus possesed as a model for living is that Jesus cared for everyone not just a one specific group of people. Jesus would give food to the hungry, clothes to the naked and help to those in need. It didnt matter what race or religion they were, Jesus treated them all as equals. As the third commandment says, remember to keep holy the sabbath day, Jesus showed this by worshiping God and asking him to help others as he tries to do. Examples of stewardship are being helpful to people who are in need. This example will not just go to people who live on the streets. The most wealthy people in the world might need help and are in poverty.

The qualities that Jesus modeled in stuardship were to help the people we would not usualy pay attention to. He never let a person in need to fend for themselves if they needed him he would be there. Today we have to think 'are we really doing this?' like when some poor person is on the street we just ignore them for the most part... we should do somthing to help even if it means just telling them where a shelter is. So Jesus modeled qualities like these... so we should be the ones to take action and do this now. We should be the ones showing stuardsship!

Some of the qualities that Jesus possesed as a model for living and an example of stewardship is no matter who the person is and what their past is like to love and treat them like any other person. An exapmple of this is when Jesus was protecting the woman who was about to be stoned to death. Jesus was also tempted to betray God by the devil and he did not listen to the devil. This is an example of Jesus having wisdom. Jesus was also very modest. Even though he was Gods son and healed people with his miracles he did not try to let everyone know about it.

Jesus shows stewardship by living his life like God wanted him too. He gave to the poor, he helped the helpless, he cured the sick, and treated everyone equally. Using his leadership he got everyday people to follow his example and make the world better. He also left behind an example for people like you and I to do our best to use our stewardship to create a peaceful world. His stewardship, or gift god gave him, was to teach us to use our's.

Jesus lived a life that was a perfect example of stewardship. Jesus was all about helping other people and making people's lives easier. Jesus is the steward of christians. Jesus cared and cured for the sick, he helped the poor, and he treated everyone as equals even outcasts. We need to all be more like this. We need to follow Jesus' example and do acts of kindness and stewardship towards others. We should be modest about what we do because we should not do acts of kindness to get attention but to be rewarded someday in heaven.

Steward - one employed in a large household or estate to manage domestic concerns such as the supervision of servants, collection of rents, and keeping of accounts. In a way we are all stewards . . . were all stewards in Gods world. Just like the stewardship we shouldn't care about what happens in our life. We need to be happy about what we have in our life. We need to do this just as Jesus did. Jesus did not have all the amenities of the wealthy in his age. However this did not stop him from being the best person that he could be. His still helped the injured, cared for the poor, and was just an overall well being. We need to be just as Jesus, we need to care for those in need even if they dont want our help they still need it and once they recieve it they will be more than happy to have it.

In the time of Jesus there were those who openly gave to the poor for all to see. These hypocrites tried to abuse what they thought was stewardship to find favor with god. Jesus taught us that stewardship is not something to gain high stature with others. te tells us not to let the right hand see what the left hand is doing. Jesus not only practiced stewardship by giving things like food and money, he gave hope and understanding to all who were poor in life and spirit. To me, Jesus presented many qualities in his life that are examples of stewardship. For one, he was selfless. He always shared what he had, and if he didn't have enough, he tried to make ends meet. For example, when Jesus only had five loaves of bread and two fish to feed one thousand people, he asked God for a miracle and managed to satisfy everyone's hunger. Another quality that Jesus posessed was the fact that he was kind. I think, that because Jesus was kind, it make him more willing to do things that would be considered "Stewardship", such as giving to the poor or healing people who are sick. If everyone tried to model their life after Jesus, there would not be close to as many problems in the world as there is now.

One way we can help out others stuck in poverty is to just be aware of whats going on around the world. We all need to work together and try to end what Jesus never wanted to happen. The way I think Jesus showed stweardship is whenever he saw someone in need or someone with a problem he tried to help the person he saw stuggling, not even when someone needed help but just knowing that someone was there for them. I think we can apply this to everyday life not just donating money or donating food, but what people need most sometimes is just knowing there someone is there for them and willing to help. Jesus possesed many qualities that we do not, but that doesent mean that we do not have to help the needy, the homeless, the person next door to us. That is the meaning of stewardshup to me.

Jesus had a lot of good qualities and he showed stewardship pretty good too. On thing he did was that he always put others before himself, no matter who they were. It is important for everybody to do this because if we're all looking out for each other, then life will be much easier for everybody.

Some of the qualities that Jesus possesed as a model for living and an example of his stewardship is his love and care for us and the environment. God showed us that we should respect everyone for who they are and not what they look like. He also showed us that we should take care of the environment and not throw our garbage anywhere we feel like, find a garbage can. God knows that we are not perfect and he understands that we make mistakes, but we should always try and do the right thing no matter how hard it is.

In our faith, stewardship means many things. The way I look at it is like this; we were brought here on Earth to test our faith. Part of our duty is taking care of others regardless of who they are or what they've done. Our responsibility as human beings is to practice stewardship as well as all of the commandments, and beattitdes. Stewardship is taking care of what we are entrusted with. For example, if you don't feed your fish or clean their tank, they will die. Same thing with humans. There are many people that need food care and having friends. There are many things that we can do in which i cannot stress enough.

Stewardship deals with peoples relationship with God and them trying to strenghten that relationship. Jesus knows that to be a human we will sometimes make mistakes. This means we should respect and care for people around us. Jesus giving his love to people shows stewardship. Jesus gave his life for poverty to help all of the people. We should share the world with all peolple around us, even people we dont know.

Jesus showed his stewardshipness by helping whoever was in need. Although he was persucted he helped people and taught us to be like him. A way we can show a stewardshipness is going to church every sunday instead of just on Christmas or easter.

One exact definition of stewardship is the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care. People who followed Jesus' teaching put their faith in him. Jesus was responsible to be careful and responsible of the faith towards God that people entrusted him with. Along with the faith people entrusted Jesus an God with, Jesus had to take good care of God's message. If he was to even alter it the tiniest bit (Not purposely, but accidentaly), It could have turned off an entire group of people to God's message.

Qualities in the life of Jesus that provide a model for living and an example of good stewardsip are he didn't classify people by who they were or what they had he helped everyone who needed it and believed in him. It didn't matter how much money you had or what kind of donkey they rode on he loved everyone. He had a tremendous amount of respect for his fathers, his mother, and people he happened to meet.

Jesus cared for everyone, showing stewardship. He teaches us that we need to help everyone, especially the poor. We need to do everything that we can to help those that need it. Jesus wants us to take care for each other. For example, if someone falls in the middle of a race that you are in, go back and help them up.

“What qualities in the life of Jesus provide a model for living and an example of good stewardship?”

stewardship is when you have a major responsibility to take care of something that was entrusted to you. Jesus always cared for the poor, sick, and the earth. Jesus respected everyone and everything. Jesus cares for everyone and watches over everything so we are protected. Jesus proved that everything he created should be respected and treated fairly and carefully. The Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes showed how we can show stewardship. The way Jesus cared for the earth, the animals, people and everything shows his stewardship for everyone and those to come.

According to Wikipedia, the word "Stewardship" means "the belief that human beings are created by the same God who created the entire universe and everything in it. To look after the Earth, and thus God's dominion."

To go along with this definition of stewardship, Jesus DID care about all the people around him and for the Earth. For example, when all the merchants were selling goods in the temple, Jesus went and flipped all the tables over. That showed that the temple is not a place to do anything besides praying to God and being thankful for the life he gave you. That showed that Jesus was trying to set an example of how you should be acting when you are in or near God's house.

God has given each and every one of us many gifts. Because we are all so blessed, it is our responsibility as Christians to care for each other, and the world around us that God has given out of His love for us. We all have talent that we need to use to care for and love others and the world. No matter who you are, what circumstances you live under,or if your rich or poor, you have the gift of love that needs to be shared.
I think that stewardship means to put your best effort in everyday to care for others, to love them and to make the world a better place. The poor, the sick, and the grieving are just some of the people that God calls us to care for in the Beatitudes. In the Beatitudes He calls us to be peacemakers, to be righteous,to be pure in heart and to stay true to Him and do His will even when we are persecuted. This is a very difficult calling. Fortunatley, Jesus sets a wonderful example for us in the Bible.
Throughout Jesus' entire life, He was a steward. He raised the dead, healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, fed the hungry, let the deaf hear, forgave sinners, and loved EVERYONE.
We are all God's children and the earth is our home so it is our responsibility to care for each other and the world. The world would be such an amazing place if we all followed in Jesus' example.

An example of stewardship is giving to others even if you are not giving money. Once you give to someone they appreciate you, and you feel good about yourself. It isnt just about money. People dont need just money they need friends or someone who is there for them. Even just smiling can help someone. It is about help and not thinking you are above people who have less materialistic possesions they are still your neighbor. They want to be treated like you treat people who are "equal" to you.

Jesus lived a life of good stewardship because he took on a mission that put his life on the line. Jesus was asked by God to free us from our sins and sacrifice his own life to bring us to eternal life. All because of our mistakes and sins. Jesus did what he was called to do and looked out for all of us regarding himself. He was treated badly and he was brutally beaten for us and died for us. We should take on our misson of following the 10 commandment as seriously as Jesus took his mission. Jesus cared for everyone and had respect for every single person on the face of the earth, he loved all his nieghbors. We should follow his example and love each other no matter what the circumstance, just as jesus did.

Jesus showed the principles of being a steward each and every day of his life. He took on the responsibility to care for the sick and needy, even when he did not have to. That is what a true steward is. According to Merriam-Webster's online dictionary, stewardship is "the conducting, supervising, or managing of something; especially : THE CAREFUL AND RESPONSIBLE MANAGEMENT of something entrusted to one's care.

Jesus made himself one of the poor. By doing this, he also made himself aware of poverty. He criticized those who did nothing about poverty. Jesus also asscociated himself with the lowest of his society (children, women, and the poor). Finally, he did what was right, no matter what the cost, which, unfortunately, was ultamately death.

Another way of showing stewardship is doing a good action or deed for what is right but not make us the center of attention. If you want to do something for the good of another person or group of people, do it because you know it is right, not because you want to be popular.
