Tikkum Olam

TIKKUM (TIKKUN) OLAM

Tikkum Olam means "Repair of the World;" or in other words, making the world a better place for all living things.

Tikkun olam encompasses both the outer and the inner self, both service to society by helping those in need and service to God by freeing the spark of goodness within ourselves. As we are, the Divine spark lies hidden beneath our layers of egoistic self-centeredness. That spark is our conscience, through which the inspirations of the Divine Will flow toward us. By pursuing spiritual inner work to strengthen our soul and purify our heart, we grow more able to bear that spark with courage, more willing to act on what we know to be right, less willing to act in harmful or grasping ways, and more able to notice the quiet presence of conscience beneath the chaos of our chattering minds and reactive emotions. The work of transformation, of building a soul creates a proper vessel for the Divine spark, for our unique share of the Divine Will, returning that spark to the service of the One Who sent it. By working to perfect ourselves, perfect our soul, and serve society, we each contribute in our own unique way to the perfecting of the world. This is our duty and our calling as human beings.

8 things to Help " Heal The World "

1- We can All try to Do One, Or Two things a day for somone else, including giving a complement to somone Or just being generouse.

2-We can try to save energy in our house, or do things to save energy.Such as Washing the dishes instead of Using the Dish washer.

3-We can try to Help Our Parents with things around the house to show we care. Such as helping them clean or take out the trash or somthing.

4-We can try to be with our family more, to make peace and have a good time with family.

5-We can help people in need more.
If we see somone drop a book or somthing, we should help them, it would make them apprecaite it more and want them to me nice back.

6-We can try to be more understanding with everything, anything. If a friend does somthing you dont agree with, try to understand them rather than fighting over it.

7-We can try to be More Forgiving to anyone, everyone. For Example if our parents cant bring us somwhere we want to go because of gas money or because of some reason, we should understand and forgive her and or Just understand

8-We can try to trust people more.
If you have trust in somone it will also make them a beter person. They will try gain your trust as well. There for you both benifit,You are trusting and learning from that person and they are trying to gain your trust and not do anything to ruin that gained trust. You both learn

Tikkum Olam is about healing the world everyone can help the world be a better place if you just take care of it and do your part. It would make the world a better place and we wouldn't have people in the world that are starving and living on the street. Everyone would be treated equal and no one person would be judged.

I could do eight actions in eight days in a few ways... first of all, i would make sure to turn all electrical items off in my house that arn't being used (ex. Computer, TV, radio...) another thing i could do would be to take shorter showers. If you take long showers for no reason that is wasting water. A third thing that could be done would be using public transportation instead of having my parents drive me everywhere i need to go. A forth thing would be not wasting paper. When you make a mistake don't throw it away at least recycle it. A fifth thing i could do would be to only do my laundry when i have to, only when i have a full load not just when i need a shirt. A sixth thing i could do is i could pick up all the bottles of soda my brothers throw out and recycle them. A seventh thing i could do would be to give my old clothes i don't want that can still be used to someone who needs them. And the eighth thing i could do is not waste food. If you make to much just share with a neighbor or save it and have it later. There is no point in wasting something that could be used later. So that is how i could do 8 things in 8 days! P. We can help our parents with cleaning up the house. We can be more respectful towards others. Finally we can help those that we see on the streets that are poor an helpless.

There are many things that a person can do to contribute to the "repair of the world" by practicing Tikkum Olam on a daily basis. Some of these things are included in the following:

1) Instead of leaving your computer on when you aren't using it to save time by not having to start it up again later, you could turn it off when you are done on it. The same may apply to televisions and lights, simply turn them off when you leave the room.

2) Give to people that are less fortunate than you. Even if you aren't rolling in money, everyone can help someone who can't help themselves.

3) Try carpooling. If you're headed to the same place as another person, why not? It could save you money that you might otherwise have to spend on gas, and it's much better for the environment.

4) Recycle. What's so hard about that? It's really a simple thing. The choice between the green bin and the grey bin isn't a hard one.

5) Don't litter. This is as simple as recycling, if not more. If you can't wait to get something out of your hands, just put it in your pocket.

6) Follow the Ten Commandments. God gave us these Ten Commandments for a reason. If you steal, you could get caught. If you kill someone, you could get caught. If you cheat on your spouse or significant other, you could get caught.

7) Accept others. If you discriminate against others based on what they look like, how much money they have, or how they dress, you could miss out on some people that could possibly make an impact on your life.

8) Teach. The best way to show someone the right thing to do is to set a good example and practice what you preach.

I think the world gets lazy sometimes, and that's the reason why people don't put in an effort to make improvements on the Earth and in society. I think if everyone made a few simple improvements in their life, the world would truly be a better place.

Tikkum Olam means making the world a better place. This includes being kind to people and taking care of our enviroment.

1- One thing we can do is to do random acts of kindness towards one another to let them know that we care about them.

2- Another thing we can do, is an idea that if everybody did it, it would greatly improve our enviroment. We should all recycle.

3- We can all conserve water. So many people around the world don't have clean drinkin water etc. so the leats we can do is not leave water running during uneeded time.

4- We should try to be as nice as possible to our siblings. Friends will come and go but siblings will always be there for you.

5- Help around the house. We could vacuum or set the table. This would help our parents and make there lives easier because they do alot for us.

6- We could not gossip. Gossiping is a major problem in school that starts all types of problems and it really hurts people.

7- Try to understand people's points of view and try to forgive them like Jesus would if they did something that made you mad.

8- Finally, try to make peace where ever you go. If the world had more peace it would be a lot better place.

our world isn't in the best shape and so here are 8 different ways we can help "Heal our World"
1- Don’t be racist: Everyone is who they are for a reason. When you discriminate against people just because of the color of their skin you are only making things more difficult. You are causing more problems than solving them.
2-Don't waste good drinking water. There are so many people out in the world today that would do anyhitng they could to have the water we have here in the United States. So be considerate, and use water wisely.
3-RECYCLE!!!!! Just do it! re-use items that you know can be re-used instead of going out and buying a new one. Don't throw away plastic bottles and soda cans, put them in the recycling bin...it isn't THAT hard!
4- Conserve energy. Don't use your computer so much. I read in a magazine once that everytime you turn on your computer you are putting a whole lot of carbon dioxide into the air that isn't needed. Also, try avoiding using objects around your house such as a microwave or dishwasher. It saves a lot of evergy after time!
5- Befriend someone who doesn't have a lot of friends. Even if you don't know them, get to know them who knows maybe someday you will have a new best friend!
6- Give money and clothing to shelters. or anyhting else they may need, including your time.
7- Be kind to your family and friends. You only have one life, and think about it, how many REALLY good friends do you have? And listen to your parents even though most of the time you won't like what they are going to say!
8- This is going to sound crazy but go paperless! MTV's Break the Addiction has all of these great tips to help save the earth. This was the only idea of theirs that i used but, I thought you might like it. Use your e-mail address to get mail and bills sent to you, and cancel your magazine subscriptions. Because for every ton of paper you don't use you are saving seventeen trees. (http://www.mtv.com/thinkmtv/features/environment/break_the_addiction/index_go_paperless.jhtml)

*1.We can turn off lights in our house and save electricity.
*2.Be considerate.Think of others before yourself and make someones day a little better.
*3.We can respect your parents and do chores around the house. make an effort, and help your parents, they have enough to deal with.
*4.recycle.recycle.recycle. Bottles and cans aren't the only thing that can be recycled, paper too.
*5.Give old clothes that don't fit you to the salvation army or someone who can't afford clothes especially in the winter when its very cold.
*6.We can pray everyday to stay one with God.
*7.We can stay calm and not overreact if a little thing bothers us. If we stay calm in situations we won't say things we'll regret later.
*8.Get involved. Donate to a charity. Volunteer at a soup kitchen. Help a neighbor shovel. Get out there and do something for someone else. It'll make you feel better and you'll get noticed.

1. Recycle- How many times a day do we throw things away that can be reused? Even something as little as recycling can make a difference to the world.
2. show respect- People work hard to give you respect so you should do the same and give some back.
3. Don't waste energy- if you leave a room turn the light off, and turn your TV off. It's not that hard to remember to conserve energy. If we don't, then the world is in big trouble in a few years.
4. Don't destroy what isn't yours- Stealing or breaking something that does not belong to you can really make somebody upset or angry. If they are upset, then thats not right, and if they are angry, somebody could get hurt.
5. Don't waste water- I know a lot of us like to take hour showers, but seriously try to cut it down. Also, when you brush your teeth, keep the water off until you need it.
6. save clothes- If you have old clothes you dont want anymore, donate them. Just think to yourself, should i throw these out, or should i take the time to drive five minutes and donate these? Well, also remember that there are children freezing because they are cold without clothes. So, the sweater that you now think is ugly could be of good use to somebody with nothing.
7. Don't gossip- I know that is hard not to get involved in everybodys' business, but stop. It's none of your business, and people always end up getting hurt. It always comes back to haunt you anyways.
8. Don't litter- How many times have you walked outside and saw garbage everywhere? It is a terrible thing to do. It makes the world a mess not to mention some animals could be killed if they eat it thinking it's food.

K. Daley

1-Turn off the water while brushing your teeth and don't rinse the sink until you are done.
This will save water. It may sound like a little but it all adds up.

2-At dinner only take what you are going to eat. In other words, don't waste food. Some people don't even have food. Also eat leftovers.

3-Treat cash registers and stores workers with respect. Even if you are paying them you still can't treat them disrespectfully. How would you want to be treated when you are working there. Plus, if you treat them nicely then they might treat the next person they see nicely.

4-Wear some clothes more than once if possible. This may sound scruby but if you wear them more than once then you can save laundry water.

5-Grow a garden. This will not only keep you healthy but you will help keep food factory emitions down.

6-Charge your phones and other electronics only when it is needed. Don't make it a habit to put your phone in the charger every night. It will use too much unneeded electricity.

7-Take quicker showers. Hour showers are unnecessary even though they feel wicked refreshing! If you take a twenty minute shower instead, you will save water and then the rest of your family will have hot water.

8-Trun otu the lights every time you leave a room. Why waste electricity by lighting a room when you aren't in there? Save electricity.

Tikkum Olam means "SAVING AND PROTECTING" our Earth by doing Something that benefits and does not jeopardize a Earth that we are living on. Even if it's a really small action such as throwing garbages in the garbage can. However, alot of people does not follow Tikkum Olam. This is why our Earth is getting harmed and causing global warming. Here are 8 things that we can do to clean and cure our earth. And also Tikkum Olam contains meaning of people on the Earth showing respect to each other.

①.Save Energy- It's really easy to do this, you just have to turn your lights off during you are out of your room and do not turn your computer on if you are not using it, Etc.

②.Save Water- I watched this on this TV show, if you put water bottle in back of your toilet, you will just flush 2/3 of the water. And also, turn off water while you are brushing.

③Recycling- You can recycle bottles and papers and reuse them. In Korea, people from certain company takes paper cup from restaurant(coffee machine) and remake them as a toilet paper. It would take more than one tree to make a toilet paper.

④Give your clothes to people who does not have- You can share your clothes with someone who's poor and does not have any money to buy clothes. It will save the environment and people can show their respect to the other people which is another meaning of Tikkum Olam.

⑤Do not pollute the air- don't ride a car if you don't need it, and try to used the carpool because the smokes from car is making the Earth warm.

⑥Show respect- Show respect to anybody in the world, because if your show respect to people you will also be respected by people.
This contains help people who are in need, trust people and lastly try to get along with people even if they don't Know you.

⑦Give a chance to people to do something even if you already know it. This way people can exprience things better and get along with other people by showing their characteristic which is also following Tikkum Olam.

⑧Lastly, forgive to anyone.- If you are forgiving other people thoes people won't do a same mistake again but also fix your problems and forgive you.

I think people should do at least 3 from this chart, It will make Earth MUCH better Place to live.

8 things to "perfect" our world.

1)I can recycle. I can recycle old school papers I didn't use or don't need. I can also recycle things like cardboard shoeboxes or boxes used for packaging that people would normally throw away.

2)I can include everyone. For example, I could "include everyone" if my friends were going to the movies, and there was a person who I knew didn't have anything to do that same night, I could include them in what my friends and I were doing.

3)I can conserve energy. I can converse energy by turning off lights when i'm not using them, or turning off my radio when i leave the room. Conserving energy also allows me to use natural resources such as sunlight, and going outdoors instead of watching TV or something inside.

4)I can make someone laugh. I think this wil help our world because through out the day there is at least one peron you run into that is in a bad mood. When you make someone laugh it maight make them a little more happier.

5)I can conserve water. I can conserve water by taking shorter showers, and not letting the water run while i am shaving or brushing my teeth.

6)I can volunteer time. I already volunteer time at my church by teaching a sunday morning religion class to 6th graders. I am teaching the kids about our faith, God, and what we can do to live a life like christ. I can volunteer more around my nieghborhood/community if i have time.

7)I can help a person in need. If someone needs help with homework i can help them understand it so they can do the homework. Also i can help people by giving them advice if they need help with a problem in their life.

8)I can call a friend. If i call a friend i might make their day by just talking to them.

Anyone can heal the world...one step at a time.

1. I can heal the world by getting my views into the world. i can let people know the truth about what is keeping our Earth in illness. by simply donating to homeless shelter around here, i can change so many lives, even if just in New York

2. I can start taking the bus in the morning. even if I find it annoying and unnecessary, it can save the earth from so much polution. in just my ride to schooland back , in just under eighteen miles, we have put 2 gallons worth of gas exhaust into the air. when you think about at least 400 people at school driving a car that is 800 gallons worth of exhaust put into our atmosphere.

3. I can turn my television off at 10:00 instead of 11:00 every night and cut the elctricity used in my house down a lot.

4. Creating peace can heal the earth. starting with one person, i can help to heal the earth. if i startto talk with someone who might not be in my crowd of friends, that could turn their day around and help that person to help other people as well. like the saying,"all it takes is one smile", suggesting that the smile was passed on to the entire world, all it takes is one caring moment to send a person to care for another. all i have to do is pass on the caring chain reaction to heal my Earth.

5. everyday i see myself passing garbage, cans, bottles, and papers on the floor, and i think to myself 'all i have to do is go back and pick it up'. the thought runs through my mind, but i never do because of a school bell ringing, my mom or dad telling me that it's time to leave, or me telling myself 'well it's too late anyway'. this is one thing i can change. i can tell myself that i am going back there to pick that up and force myself to, even if the bell for my next class did ring.

6. if i see someone being picked on and teased, i need to go and stand between that person and the bully and say the truth, that it kills me inside to see someone treat there fellow pupils, the people that you see everyday, be tormented and tortured, to see the looks on their faces the next day. i see the fear in them, they are afraid to look them in the eye because they are worried of another emotional attack at them. i see this often, but i dont intervene often enough.

7. to help heal the earth, i can participate in multiple protests against products that are either killing our earth or being being made by people that are forced to work in fear of death and worse, torture. hopefully we can, as a group, end the use of sweat shops.

8. if i were more forgiving, it would save people from guilt and heartache in my account. i should follow in Jesus' footsteps and forgive those who hurt me, even if they don't wish for forgiveness. "to those who strike your cheek, offer the other. and to those who take your robe, offer them other articles." forgivenss is key.

There are many ways in which I can do to help heal the world. One thing that I can do is make sure that I recycle bottles and cans instead of putting them in the garbage can. Another thing that I can do is share the things that I bring to lunch if people don't have anything. Also I can give someone money for lunch if they forgot to bring it on that day. A forth thing that I can do is to be nice to everyone and say a nice to eveyone that I see on that day. A fifth thing that I can do is to make sure that I have turned off all the electronics in my house to save energy. Another thing that I can do is spend more time with my family and just take time out of the day to talk to them. Also I could pick up all the garbage around my neighborhood to make it look very nice. Another thing that I can do is to make sure that i set a good example for the young children in my family. This is what I can do to help heal the world.

8 things you can do to heal the world is....

RECYCLE IS A big thing, and conserve engergy and light like when you leave a room or nothing using a electronic turn it off and help prevent global warming.

The sixth thing I can do is respect the Earth. I can do this by not littering, and just simply throwing away things in a trash can.

The seventh thing I can do is to get involved in the community. I can work at local soup kitchens and help pick up my city and make it a better place to live.

Tikkum Olam means to take care of our world including ourselves.8 ways to express Tikkum Olam are..
1) To go to reconciliation. Tikkum Olam talks about our inner self and working to perfect ourselves, reconciliation is a way to do this.

2) A second way is to say hi to someone who you would never talk to before. It would make you feel better about yourself and make the other person happy as well.

3) We could save electricity by turning of the lights when we go out of a room and a hallway. When we are done using the computer or videogames we should always turn them off.

4) We can also volunteer for something we wouldn't normally do. We could offer to babysit for free or help out more around the house trying to be less lazy.

5) Also by trying to be less lazy we can recycle our bottles at lunch and at home.

6) From our daily allowance of work money we could donate some to the poor.

7) We could also donate all the clothes and shoes we grew out of or don't wear anymore.

8) Finally, we can stick up for people and stop rumors you hear. This prevents someones feelings from being hurt

Tikkum Olam is a poem sent out not to "save the world", or to "change everyone in the world," but it's out there to help everyone realize that a little act of kindness, can go a really long way!

One thing I will do is to smile at someone, just to get their hopes up, and make them crack a little smile! The second thing I will do is not complain about someone being too slow, and be patient with other people so that not only can I relax more, but so can the other person. The third thing I will do is to gather cans for the elderly, and lay them outside in a seperate bag, instead of them having to take time to search through the garbage in the winter time whnen it is freezing outside. The fourth thing I will do is to walk home from the bus stop, instead of having someone pick me up and waste gas that people all around the world could need. The fifth thing I am going to do is to spend time at the family table, and not rush nights away with your family. The sixth thing I will do is every week just take clothes out of my dressor, that I don't wear, or need, or want and give them to the Salvation Army or anything charitable foundation. The seventh thing I will so is to stop rumors I hear being spread. I will not just blow them off either, I will tell the person to stop spreading this rumor. And finally the eighth thing I will so is to read at night, instad of listening to a radio, or watching television. All these things I will do for 8 days will not only make me a better person they will also help strengthen our world today!!

By following Tikkum Olam, we are helping to heal the world. This healing helps all of the people who inhabit the world and also the Earth itself. If everyone did their part and followed Tikkum Olam, the world would be a better place to live for us today and for future generations. These are some of the things that I can do to help the world today.

1- Conservation. You would be surprised at how much energy and resources are wasted everyday all over the world. By cutting down on my time in the shower and even cutting down on how long I watch television, I can make a huge difference in the world today. Also, I can encourage others to do the same to conserve things that we very much take for granted.

2- Recycling. There are many trees that have been cut down on Earth today so that people can get the paper and wood products that they use. I can reuse the paper I don't need anymore by just putting it into a recycling bin. I can also recycle the plastic bottles I am finished using. Even the small things that people do can make a difference in our society.

3- Volunteering. By helping out in my community, I can make life alot easier for many people. Even something small like cleaning a local park or helping out at a soup kitchen would be time well spent. Any act of kindness can make a difference.

4- Forgiveness. I can try to forgive someone when they hurt me. Even though it is sometimes hard, it is the right thing to do. If I forgive others, I can hopefully encourage them to forgive people who hurt them. Everyone always deserves a second chance.

5-Laughter. Laughter is the best medicine that can cure any sickness. By laughing, I can help others to feel happier about life and any situation that they find themselves in. Also, the great thing about happiness is that it is contagious. Whenever you express your happiness to someone, they will feel better about themselves and help others to feel heppier, no matter how they already feel.

6- Friendliness. Being friendly to someone can make their day. Even if I just talk to someone who has no one to talk to or tell them a joke to make them smile, I can help people to understand the meaning of life: To enjoy it while it lasts.

7- Standing up for what is right. Sometimes, people may not make the right decisions in life. Most people just follow the crowd, no matter what they believe. If I stand up for what I believe in, maybe I can encourage others to do the same. Also, I can help to remind people that free will is a gift that should be used to its fullest extent. I can stand up for what is right, even if I am standing alone.

8- Love. Some people in the world do not truly know what love means. To me, love is something that should be shared with others, especially the outcasts in society. I can show my love by putting myself out to help others with whatever they are having trouble with. Also, I can show love by treating others equally. I can show people the same respect that I show my friends or my family, even if I lose my temper. Showing people and the Earth love, to me, is what Tikkum Olam is all about.

By following Tikkum Olam, we can help to make our world a better place to live for all who live on the Earth. In life, we are asked by God to follow laws that are very much similar to Tikkum Olam. Even the smallest actions can bring the greatest results.

Such as shutting of the lights in my house when i leave for school or turning of the water when im done washing my hands. 8 Things to help the world:

1- Be conscious of your water use. Turn the water off when you're done using it and don't leave it running. That is a waste of perfectly good water.

2- Do a random act of kindness. If everyone did one random act of kindness everyday the world would be such a better place because people are taking time out of their busy day to help someone else. The smallest act of kindness can have the biggest impact on someone's life.

3- Don't leave lights on. A lot of people leave lights on without thinking about it, they make it a habbit. By making sure you turn off the light as you leave the room you can save a lot of electricity.

4- Donate things you don't need to charity. By giving away things you don't need anymore you are saving space in your house and you helping a poor person who could really use our extra items.

5- Don't litter! There is no really point in littering except laziness. By making that walk to the nearest garbage can or recycling bin you are saving the planet. You never know, that candy wrapper you through on the grass could be chocked on by an animal.

6- Don't leave your radio on when your not in the room. A lof of teens leave their radio on when they leave the room and then come back later to turn it off. By just turning it off between uses you are saving a lot of energy.

7- Don't waste paper. By using the back of paper instead of just throwing it out you can save a tree. Why waste a piece of paper when you don't have to.

8- Plant a tree. By planting a tree you are giving back to the environment that gives so much to you. Every little flower or plant makes a huge difference to our planet.

Day 1- Turn down the heat in the house. Insteads of turning the heat up higher.Layer clothing instead.

Day 2- Talk to people you may not normally socialize with. It could build friendships you may never have found out about otherwise.

Day 3- Walk, ride your bike, rollerblade, or use some other form of transportaion other than riding in a car to places that can be reached without needing a car.

Day 4- Don't lie or spread rumors that could ruin someones reputation. You wouldn't want it happening to you.

Day 5- Be generous. Don't turn down giving a little bit to charity. Even if it isn't a lot, give whatever you can. There is always someone with less than you.

Day 6- Stop the constant shopping sprees. No one needs a new wardrobe 3 times a year. This saved money could go to hundreds of better causes. (See Day 5)

Day 7- Turn the lights off when you leave the room. Along with other electrical appliances. (Unless you are going right back to the room). Even Mythbusters proved that you waste more electricity keeping the lights on.

Day 8- Chose family over friends. They love you and want to see more of you. Don't dissapoint the people who raised you.

8 things to Help the World

1-I can help, be nicer, and kinder to those who aren't my friends, maybe become better friends.

2-I can turn the water off. Don't just keep the water on when you aren't using it.

3-I can save more energy. I can go through my house and turn off the lights that aren't being used.

4-I can help more around the house. I can do a few more chores.

5-I can give more. Not only give more to the poor but to people who need help and people who stuggle with things.

6-I can recycle more. Recylce the paper thats just sitting in my locker, my drawers at home and any paper I see in the hall or laying on the ground.

7-I can do the things that i hold off. I can make more time for doing things that matter instead of things that don't.

8-I can avoid the gossip. Instead of wanting to hear about that gossip, I can stay out of it and attpemt to stop it.

Another major thing that we all can do it make peace. Don't try and start a fight, try to stop one.

Tikkum Olam is all about making the world a better place. If everyone took action and tried to help their neighbors and help themselves the world would be in a much better state then it is now. Some things i can do to make the world a better place are:
1. Turn off my computer when i go to bed and don't leave it on all day when i am at school. I can also make sure all other appliances are turned off in my house when they don't need ti be on.
2.Volunteer work helps the community a lot. I could volunteer at a soup kitchen or another service in need of some help.
3.Donate money to a special cause, like Breast cancer, to the poor, or some type of donation to help our earth.
4.When i see someone in need of assistance or a little cheering up i could compliment them or take out some time to help them with whatever they need.
5.When i eat a meal i should make sure i only take as much as i am going to eat. Many people around the world don't even have food to eat, i will remember this and not waste the food they would be so happy to have.
6.Many people are unaware of where their clothes come from. Just because it has a popular label people buy it. Next time i go shopping, i will do some research as to where the clothes i buy come from. If they come from sweat shops I won't purchase them.
7.When I am in a bad mood, i will remember that what i say hurts people even if I don't mean it. The next time I am going to give someone a mean comment just because I am in a bad mood i will think twice. I should give everyone the respect they deserve.
8.My mom buys me a lot of things i want/need. The next time she buys me something i will give her more then just a thank you.
Doing the smallest things change the world, even though u might say you are just one person. Your actions add up!

2- I can help anyone that we see in need of help or tell someone that can help them.
3- I can try to save energy by turning off all electrical things when we are finished with them.

2. If someone you know or don't know is in need, help them. Regardless of who they are.

3. Spend more time with your family.

4. Help out with certain things around the house that you usually don't do.

5. Be nice. Even if someone isn't being nice to you, set an example and act the right way.

6. Don't hold grudges and try to understand the other person's point of view before arguing about it.

7. Don't disrespect someone just for a joke or put down others for your own self esteem.

8 thing that I can do to help "Heal The World"

1) I can give things that I don't really need to people who do need it. I can give clothes and books that are in good condition to the poor who need these things more than I do.

2) I can recycle paper and bottles.

3) I will let people know how much I care about them. I will try and show the people that I care about the most that I love them more then material things.

4) I will respect myself and others. By treating myself with respect it will help me to treat others with the love and respect they deserve.

5) I can also save on electricity by turning off lights when I am not in the room.

6) I can try and take care of animals. I can put food into the bird feeder so that birds will have food. I can sprinkle good size amounts of bread on the ground to feed other kinds of animals.

7) I can try and not judge other people for what they wear and how they dress. Everyone is special in their own way I just have to look past what they look like and see them for who they really are.

8) I can also try and go to nursing homes like I used to. I remember a few months ago I went with a friend and we put on a little show for them, and to see the excitement and happiness on their faces again would just be so amazing.

Tikkum Olam is about making the world better for everyone. If everyone tried to help each other and themselves the world would be better then ever. Some things I can do to help make the world a better place is:
1. Recycle, my family recycles but we sometimes get lazy and through it out.
2. I can try to not shop at stores that use sweat shops, I will try to watch where my clothes are coming from and not buy the ones who have those shops.
3. Help my parents, the work late and need help to keep things in order.
4. Don’t litter, when people litter it means they have no respect for the environment and are truly lazy.
5. Do random, kind things. I can babysit or help my neighbors around the house for free, I don’t need to be paid for everything I do.
6. When I see someone in need I will try to make them feel better and give then what they need.
7. Turn off my computer when I go to bed and don't forget to turn it off when I am at school.
8. When my grandma or parents or any family members give me something I will try to say a very appreciative thank you and try to do something in return so that they will feel happy too.

3. I will save electricity by turning off any electrical items that are on for no reason.

4. I will save gas by car pooling to different places I want to go with other people that are going to the same place.

5. I will help my grandparents do things around their house once a week.

6. I will help the community by being a role model to the younger kids in my neighborhood.

7. I will do nice things for my family when i can without them telling me to do them.

Tikkum Olam is the caring and healing of the world. This means that we have a responsibility as Christians to care for each other and nature. It is our responsibility to practice Tikkum Olam in our everyday lives. Here are some things in my own personal life that I PROMISE to do to make the world a better place for everyone in it.

1. I will write a letter to my great aunt who is in a nursing home. She lives far away and I know that a card will put a big smile on her face.

2. I will give the clothes that I don't need to the poor. I just cleaned out my closet and it will be a great thing for me to do for others. Hopefully, the clothes will keep someone else warm and make them happy.

3. I will let everyone in my life know how much i appreciate them and how much I appreciate everything they have done for me . A simple thank you can boost someones confidance and make their day. It is important to know when you are making a difference in someone elses life.

4. I will make sure that my family decreases the amount of paper products that we use. In return I will help with the dishes more often to give my family more time to do other things.

5. I will volunteer more often in my school, church, and community. It is my responsibility to give back to the places where I spend the majority of my time.

6. I will make a bigger effort to stand up for the things I believe in. That takes a lot of courage.

7. I will not gossip or talk about anyone. I will also stop people who are gossiping or talking about others in a negative way. Gossip can tear peoples lives apart and really hurt people.

8. This spring I am going to plant a tree in my yard. With all the paper I have used in my life, it would be nice to replace a small amount of that. It would also add beauty to my neighborhood.

I will take the things that I just stated very seriously and I will go through with them. Tikkum Olam should be taken seriously. Helping others is contagious and if I hep people then hopefully it will inspire others to do the same.

8 things that we could help do to heal the world are..

1 i will help people by giving them a hand by helping them up if they fall, or helping them with carrying books

2 when someone feels shy or alone, i will invite them to sit with me and try to talk to them

3 i will recycle, and if i see garbage on the ground, instead of just walking by it, i can pick it up and recycle it or throw it out

4 if someone gets me mad instead of yelling at them i will just try to talk to them and not be mean

5 i will not talk badly about people that i do not know or do
know

6 i will turn off lights, computers, tvs, etc. if im not using them

7 i will do what my parents tell me to do and help out with little things around the house

8 i can spend more time with my family, and if they ask me to go out with them to eat or to the store i will go with them instead of always hanging out with my friends

Day one: To spread happiness and joy to all, smile and talk to people that look sad or alone. Sometimes people just need a good laugh.

Day two: Honest is the best policy, so today don't lie and just tell the truth.

Day three: Everyone likes to be heard, so today just listen to what people are saying. Pay attention in class, or to what your friend is saying and you may actually learn things.

Day four: Donate your extra lunch money to the poor.

Day five: Waste not want not. Today you could not waste paper, water, or anything else.

Day six: settle any fights that arise. Don't just stand on the sidelines, step in and try to stop it.

Day seven: Don't make fun of someone just to look cool. In stead stand up for them.

Day eight: Be yourself! You are the only one who can tell you what to do. Don't think about what people are thinking about you.

1. Recycle- How many times a day do I throw things away that can be reused? Even something as little as recycling can make a difference to the world.
2. show respect- People work hard to give me respect so I should do the same and give some back.
3. Don't waste energy- if I leave a room I'll turn the light off, and turn my TV off. It's not that hard to remember to conserve energy. If I don't, then the world could be big trouble in a few years.
4. Don't destroy what isn't yours- Stealing or breaking something that does not belong to me can really make somebody upset or angry. If they are upset, then thats not right, and if they are angry, somebody could get hurt.
5. Don't waste water- When I brush my teeth, I can remember to turn the water off until I need it.
6. save clothes- If I have old clothes I dont want anymore, I can donate them. I can just think to myself, should I throw these out, or should I take the time to drive five minutes away and donate these? Well, also, I can remember that there are children freezing because they are cold without clothes. So, the sweater that I now think is ugly could be of good use to somebody with nothing.
7. Don't gossip- I know that is hard not to get involved in everybodys' business, but I can stop. It's none of my business, and people always end up getting hurt. It always comes back to haunt me anyways.
8. I can pick up litter- How many times have you walked outside and saw garbage everywhere? It is a terrible thing to do. It makes the world a mess not to mention some animals could be killed if they eat it thinking it's food. So, if I see it, I can pick it up.

~*8 Things to Help the World*~

1. One thing i can do is Recycle. I realized that if I recycled instead of throwing out everything I use, I could help conserve instead of making more garbage.

2. A second thing I could do is help someone at school that might be struggling in a subject. Helping that person with what they struggle with, no matter what it is; school, sports, friends; helping them might inspire them to help someone else!

3. A third thing that I could do is to turn off lights in a room that I am leaving or that someone left on to help save energy. If I dont need the light on, it should be off.

4. A fourth thing I can do is that I can volunteer to help neighbors out with any work or babysitting that they need help with. Not getting paid for doing those things helps me to realize how to be a better person and to help someone for the sake of giving.

5.A fifth thing that I could do is give away clothes that don't fit me anymore to charity. Why should I keep these clothes when they don't fit me? Somebody else could really be in desperate need of that item of clothing.

6. A sixth thing that I can do is to pick up garbage that I see on the ground even if it isn't mine. How many times have you ever walked by a bottle on the ground or a piece of paper laying on the floor? You think to yourself, "I don't feel like picking it up; someone will soon". The bad news to that is that is what alot of people are saying to themselves and the litter is accumulating everywhere. From now on when I pass by garbage I just pick it up and throw it away.

7. The seventh thing that I can do is to conserve water. Many people don't think that they waste alot of water but we acctually do! Some people don't realize how greatful we are to have the gift of running water so we don't realize how much we use. That's why I will turn off the sink while I am brushing my teeth and take shorter showers.

8. The eighth thing that I can do is to treat others as I would want to be treated. If I want people to be nice to me, I have to treat them with the same respect that I want to be recieving.

To help to follow "Tikkum Olam", I can do all of these things listed below:

Day 1: Instead of wasting large amounts of water, such as when I'm in the shower or brushing my teeth, I can simply turn it off to save large amounts of energy and money.

Day 2: Whenever I see someone in need, wether it's physically or mentally, i can try my best to try and make their day a littlt bit better with a smile and a helping hand.

Day 3: To allow peace to run through my household, I can start by listening to my parents the first time they tell me to do something, and avoid all negative confrontations.

Day 4: Another idea to help me to make a better world would be to be more concious about my speech and actions for they can hurt someone in ways that I probably never meant or expected.

Day 5: Whenever you lie, you are just digging yourself into an even deeper whole than you were in before. If I can learn to tell the whole truth all of the time, I can possibly achieve great things in life.

Day 6: Whenever I walk out of a room, I should start to make a habit of turning off whatever electrical appliances that I have running; a task that I often forget to follow through with.

Day 7: I can learn to accept others for who they are, not who I expect them to be. Whenever I meet someone new, I should try my best to see the true personinside of them, not the image that I'm trying to create.

Day 8: Lastly, I can donate more of my time to doing community service, something that I often push aside to do othr things that I belived were more important at the time.

If I can start to follow the teachings of "Tikkum Olam", it will start to seem like a brighter and more organized world. With more love and respect for others, we will always feel like we are cared for and needed to complete Jesus' teachings.

Tikkum Olam is about service to others and not yourself. Helping others and the environment is a key issue. There is a lack of respect to each other and the environment.
1. Help others even thought you may not know them.
2. Participate in an activity that helps you to understand people physically challenged such as those seen in the STRIDE organization.
3. The regional food bank serves 23 counties in New York State and they are always in desperate need of volunteers.
4. Participate in an Adopt-A-Highway program and clean up our roads.
5. Volunteer at a nursing home or at ROUSE. Get to understand and appreciate the elderly as they are great teachers and have great stories.
6. The next fundraiser do a soda bottle drive. New York State makes thousands of dollars on bottles never returned.
7. Enjoy more family time outdoors helping the environment instead of sitting home.
8. Order trees through the Arbor Day foundation and plant new trees.

These are things I participate in and have found them to be very rewarding.

Tikkum Olam is about healing the world and making it better in any and all the ways we can but we don't all do that and we need to do that. This is very important because if we all did our part then we would be able to make the world better, quicker and easyier. This would help end poverty and help everyone live in better conditions. It would also make the world last longer.

Tikkum Olam is about helping the enviornment and haelping others.

1.) Being nicer to someone might just make their day
2.) Sharing what is yours with others may help them with the simplest tasks that may seem hard to them.
3.) Think before you click that "print" button on the computer. Are you printing something that you could hand write. Every time you print one sheet of paper you need to think of how many trees were needed to be cut down in order for you to print a measly peice of paper
4.) Water efficiency. THINK BEFORE YOU TURN ON THE FAUCET, DISHWASHER OR WASHER.
5.) Electricity conservation. When you leave a room make sure to turn off anything that you are not using. ie light, computer, electronics.
6.) Talk to someone, they might be having a bad day and you talking to them could make their day that much better.
7.) Forgive and Forget, be happy for the friends that you have and dont do anything to make them feel bad.
8.) Help your parents, they do alot for us too. It would be the least that we could do, but it might make a big differenct to them.

These are just some of the little things that we can do in order to make our world a better place

8 Things to do in 8 Days.

1. Take quicker showers. Taking long showers is not necessary, and it wastes valuable water and energy.

2. Turn off lights when you leave a room. When you aren't in a room, why leave the lights on?

3. Dont use away messages when you are on IM. Instead of leaving an away message on for hours, just shut off your computer.

4. Clean in and around your house. A cleaner world is good for a healthy lifestyle.

5. Help anyone you see in need. Kindness is rewarded.

6.RECYCLE and Care for the ENVIRONMENT.

7. Volunteer within your community. A little help can go a long way.

8. Make friends with people you wouldn't normally talk to, or with someone who is in need of a friend.

Day 1: We can try to recyle, as much as possible. When we have the oppurtunity to, we shouldn't be lazy, we should just do it and think about how good it will help.

Day 2: When you are going to the sane place others are going to, team up with them and take a ride. Not only are you saving the environment but you are also saving money.

Day 3: Try to be as generous as possible to people who need it. When you have more than enough give tp people who don't have anything.

Day 4: Eat more fruits and vegetables grown from the earth and be more healthier.

Day 5: Save energy on light and only turn it on when you need it. Also only turn any mechanical devises when needed.

Day 6: Share paper and other things needed with others, because some day we won't have materials from the environment.

Day 7: Never waste food or water. Only get an amount of food that you need and never throw it out. Also never waste water.
